GOD’S KIDS

Philosophy / Goals

Our Preschool is based on the belief that a high quality Christian Early Childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment that enhances the spiritual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children while responding to the needs of the family. We believe that a professional of Christian nurture and education can do much to make the most of a child’s precious preschool years. Such a program, at best, can only compliment or enrich a child’s home experience.  Children learn with greater ease and enjoyment when education is geared to their development in a natural Christian environment.

The Preschool staff will strive to help each child achieve the following:  Spiritual Development - to learn that God loves each child and sent His Son Jesus as our Savior, begin recognition of right and wrong, learn Bible stories and how they can relate to our everyday life, realize the need to learn more about God, to guide the child and help establish his/her values; Physical Development - increase muscular strength and coordination, and improved manipulative skills; Cognitive Development - learn numbers (1-10) and the alphabet, learn his/her name, increase vocabulary through emerging literary activities, learn songs, poems, stories, and nursery rhymes, learn increased attention span, learn to value others by sharing, improve ability to get along with others, learn initial stages of independence and assume responsibility.

Specific readiness skills we will be working on are as follows:

Helping the child to:

  1. Learn to listen and follow verbal directions.
  2. Develop independence in self-help activities (buttons, zippers, jackets...).
  3. Increase language development by using simple and complete sentences.
  4. Learn recognition of his/her full name, recognize basic shapes and colors, manipulate scissors and pencils.
  5. Grow and develop in the socialization process, develop large motor skills  (jump, run, skip, hop...).
